Charmeh

An online system for interest-free loans.

The Charmeh admin dashboard

Charmeh is the online system of an interest-free loan fund, the kind known in Iran as qard al-hasan. People join the fund through it, get verified and borrow, and the fund's managers run everything from one admin panel.

Runs on our servers in Iran, watched by the same monitoring.

The idea

A qard al-hasan fund lends money to its members without interest, and they pay it back in installments. It runs on trust and careful records: the fund has to know who each member is and where every loan stands.

The fund's managers wanted lending to be easier to run, and a reliable way to know who they were lending to. Charmeh does both online. It verifies each applicant's identity and legal status, and it follows every loan from the request to the last installment.

What it does

For members

  • Join online in three steps: pay the registration fee, complete the profile, get approved by an admin
  • Identity and legal status checks for every applicant
  • Past loans and balances carried over for existing members
  • Loan requests, with a status the member can follow
  • Wallet balance, loan history and upcoming installments on one dashboard

For the fund's managers

  • An overview of members, loans, overdue installments and the fund's total assets
  • Review of membership and loan requests
  • Financial management, bank statements and reports
  • Messages and announcements to members, and member support
  • An activity log, and admin accounts with different levels of access

The journey

The fund had members before it had a website, so the system had to bring their history along. An existing member enters their old membership number, and once an admin confirms it, their loans and balance move to the new account.

Money needs clear records, so every loan has a status that the member and the managers both see: under review, in the payment queue, active, settled or rejected. Dates and reports follow the Persian calendar, the one the fund's members use every day.
